Cleaning with Thieves

Cleaning with Thieves
Once upon a time, I used a lot of chemicals in my home and personal care products. One of my mainstays was bleach. Living in the country in a humid climate, we always had that musty odor you get in the basement, and it would permeate our home. I also used to use bleach to brighten our clothes in the wash.

Eventually, I learned that bleach is very unhealthy for the lungs and for the thyroid. Oh my! A light bulb went on in my head!

Two health challenges I was battling involved my lungs and my thyroid. So, I decided to do some more research.
Fortunately, I had a lot of friends who also were interested in natural and healthy lifestyle choices. They told me how to get in the habit of reading labels. They also told me about the Environmental Working Group website where you can look up ingredients. I was horrified at the amount of toxins I was allowing in our home and bodies.

I started to learn about bottle swapping. Gradually, when a toxic cleaning product I had been using became empty, I would replace it with a “clean” product. Over time, I eliminated and replaced so many products that I ended up with more room in my cupboards. The reason was that I discovered a whole line of products made by Young Living Essential Oils. All the products are based on the Thieves blend, which is a whole different story. I have an entire class about Thieves so you can read up a bit more as you have time. Here's the link to that class:

But let me get back to the story!

The first product I discovered to help my cleaning dilemma was Thieves Household Cleaner. Words can’t describe my delight at how well it worked and how inexpensive it was. Now, I use it for everything! Floors, dusting, counters, kitchen, bathroom, mirrors and windows, and even tough jobs like getting spots out of clothes, and cleaning the house siding, carpets, cars, and more. Check out this cost comparison to see how cost effective it is to clean safely and effectively!

Over time, I discovered the Thieves Laundry Soap, Dish soap, Hand Soap, Thieves Scrub and many other products in the Thieves line. I get rather passionate about the difference the Thieves products have made in my life. My house smells amazing and my lungs and thyroid are so much happier now that I have eliminated all those toxic chemicals from our home!

Dealing with the stress of moving

Dealing with the stress of moving
This summer I moved. I sold my large homestead where I had lived for 38 years. After my husband died three years ago, I became aware that I no longer could maintain the large property all on my own. On short notice an opportunity for me to move into a much smaller apartment in a senior community became available. I had to prepare to sell my home and downsize in a major way.

It was a gigantic task and I am so grateful for help I received from friends, family and neighbors. But the reality is there was a. lot of stress associated with the move. Many long hours of hard work that my body was not used to doing.

Here are some ways I found to cope with the aches and pains and stresses of moving:

Meet Reisa Abercrombie

As a wife and mom of three, I’ve always been drawn
to finding meaningful connections between health,
wellness, and the joys of everyday life. Over the years,
I’ve discovered how deeply intertwined our mind,
body, and soul are and how intentional choices can
create a lasting impact on our families and communities.

I grew up in northern Minnesota as the oldest of four
children, developing a love for creativity and connection that led me to the Twin Cities. There, I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design from Northwestern
College in St. Paul and worked in the design field before transitioning to my most cherished role—raising my
family.

My husband, Andrew, and I have been married for nearly 13 years. Together, with our three children (ages 11, 6, and 5), we embraced a dream of rural living by moving back to northern Minnesota in 2022. Just outside of Grand Rapids, we’ve created a home filled with a large garden, a flock of chickens, and plenty of acreage for our kids to explore and grow.

Our faith and connection to our local church community play an integral role in our lives. When we’re not gardening, bow hunting, or enjoying a campfire, you’ll find us in our workshop. There, we pour our hearts into creating handcrafted wooden products—from unique cribbage and charcuterie boards to earrings and essential oil holders. Each piece reflects our passion for craftsmanship and the beauty of natural living.

Life is an ongoing journey of growth and learning, and I’m honored to share this path with you. Whether it’s through handcrafted goods or a shared passion for intentional living, I’m here to connect, learn, and grow together with you.

Thank you for your grace, support, and for allowing us to be part of your journey. Let’s build something beautiful—together.
